Dulcie May Kitchen Newsletter
Winter Newsletter - July 2009
Hi to you all and welcome to our now ‘seasonal' Newsletters. I hope winter is treating you kindly as I am sure it is one of the coldest we have had in many a year!
We have had a lot going on over the past few months with more media and television interested in the story etc behind Dulcie May Kitchen. We have recently featured in the New Generation - pull out magazine in the NZ Herald, however my main feature this month is a blog I was invited to write on in Australia. This was a fantastic opportunity for me to share my story with some Australian's and start to see my vision come to reality of the world being inspired by Dulcie May herself! I hope you enjoy - it is rather long so I have only included a part of it but will give you the link to read the entire blog. It also gives a good overview of my journey while writing Gran's Kitchen.
We are also as usual sharing with you some of the new products we have in stock and sharing a recipe that is a favourite of ours or requested from customers.
Thank you so much to those of you who continue to support Dulcie May Kitchen.
With love
Natalie

Ms Gourmet - Dulcie May Kitchen Blog
I first decided in April 2008 to write my book Gran's Kitchen (although we hadn't decided the title at the time) My Gran was getting older and everyone in the family forever talked about what we were going to do when she passed away with all her recipes as they held such dear memories for us all. My Gran was too an inspirational lady so I had no problem in using her inspiring character to write and publish this book. I spend many hours with her choosing what she and I believed to be the best recipes with many of them being Women's Institute Winners for many years in Weymouth Auckland where Gran grew up her whole life. It was a quick journey really in the scheme of book writing and publishing with my book landing in Auckland the day before Christmas 2008. There were many times before this that we thought Gran would not make it but she was a fighter and kept on living to see the book in the shops and also see the opening of my store in Mt Eden named Dulcie May Kitchen (of course Duclie May being my Gran's name). We opened in February 2009 and it has been an honour to share Gran's life and recipes with the world or at least New Zealand at this stage! (The world is definitely coming!!)

Recipe of the Month
Napoleans
Gran's Napoleon's seem very popular for us - it is a great treat for me as it seemed that we never often had them, only on special occasions, however here at Dulcie May Kitchen it can be a daily treat! So here is an opportunity to make it at home for your special occasion. These are really easy so give it a go!
3 - 4 Sheets Puff Pastry
2 cups Icing Sugar
2 tablespoons Butter, softened
Boiling Water
Raspberry Essence to taste
Raspberry Jam
300ml Cream, whipped
Cut pastry into rectangles, a little larger than desired size as they
shrink during cooking (roughly 8cm x 15cm).
Place on greased oven tray and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10
minutes. Set aside to cool.
Sift icing sugar into bowl and add butter. Cream mixture while
slowly adding boiling water to a spreadable consistency. Stir in
raspberry essence.
Spread bottoms with jam then whipped cream, and spread the tops
with icing. Sandwich tops and bottoms together.
